‘The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything’ – the great Albert Einstein said that. ‘The two most powerful warriors are patience and time.’ Leo Tolstoy wrote that in his epic novel ‘War and Peace’. I won’t rise to either of those geniuses, so I’ll instead be quoting from great writers, thinkers, and leaders of the past – as I present a carefully curated playlist of ‘songs of war and peace’ in my Remembrance Day Edition of ‘Vintage Favourites’. I hope you’ll join me this Sunday afternoon for a fascinating and varied program.
I’ll start as always with songs from ‘The Fabulous Fifties – and Beyond’, then spotlight The Temptations – the next in our year-long feature on ‘the greatest groups of our time – in alphabetical order’. Our main feature – ‘songs of war and peace’ follows, and I’ll wrap up this program with birthday spotlights on two Canadian icons: Joni Mitchell and Neil Young. That’s all on the next ‘Vintage Favourites’, this Sunday (Nov.10th) from 2:00 to 4:30 on Zoomer Radio.
