REMEMBERING DOMENIC TROIANO

One of the best guitarists of the 1960s and 70s was Toronto’s own Domenic Troiano, who started in Robbie Lane’s Disciples, graduating from Ronnie Hawkins’ ‘school’ to play with Mandala, and later The Guess Who and others.  The late ‘guitar god’ had a fascinating story – now finally told in great detail by his brother Frank and co-author Mark Doble in the new book: ‘Domenic Troiano – His Life and Music’. I am so very pleased to welcome Frank, Mark – and Robbie Lane – on a very special edition of ‘Vintage Favourites’ to tell Domenic’s story and play some of his best music.

I’ll also have another edition of ‘This Week in Zoomer Music‘ remembering the opening of two of the world’s most famous clubs: Liverpool’s Cavern and LA’s Whiskey A-Go-Go, three legendary female singers: Peggy Lee, Etta James and Eartha Kitt, Buddy Holly’s last home recordings and ‘The Story Behind the Song‘ ‘A Day in the Life’.  The Beatles started work on their masterpiece 55 years ago this week – a good time to tell the story of how it came to be.

This will be a very special edition of ‘Vintage Favourites’ – don’t miss it – this Sunday (Jan.16th) from 2:00 to 4:30.
