‘TIME’s TEN’ – TEN SUPERSTAR COVERS FROM TIME MAGAZINE’S 100 YEARS

TIME Magazine is turning 100 years old on March 3rd, and over its 5000+ iconic red-bordered covers there have been plenty of music icons and superstars. I’ve dug through the archives to find ten of the biggest and best from Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong in the 1940s to Sinatra, Elton, Michael Jackson and five others. I’ll tell you why they were featured, and play their key related songs.

I’m also saluting the late great guitar wizard, Jeff Healey, who died 15 years ago, with a half-hour of his music that’ll range from electric blues to rock’n’roll and his heart’s delight – authentic vintage era jazz.  We’re also nearing the end of Black History Month, and I’ll have a special edition of ‘Our Sunday Best – A Century of #1 Hits‘ – featuring #1 songs from this week in years past – each by an African-American superstar, from the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. And I’ll cap it off with three legendary African-Canadians crossing the genres from Oscar Peterson to Dan Hill and The Weeknd.  I hope you’ll tune in for this fascinating edition of ‘Vintage Favourites’ this Sunday (Feb.26) at 2pm.
