By Jane Brown
For the fifth year in a row, I am walking on Sunday September 22nd in memory of my Mom who died of bladder cancer on May 1, 2012. Sandy Brown fought this disease for 3 tireless years, but passed away at the age of 68. She was far too young to go and had so much to live for, including 9 grandchildren. My efforts, and those of my team mates, will help ensure other people like my Mom have a greater chance of survival!
Bladder cancer is the fifth most deadly form of cancer to affect Canadians, and yet funding for bladder cancer research is also only a fraction of what other “more popular” cancers receive.
I have been a cancer research fundraiser since 2006. For 3 years, I captained a Run for the Cure team. And in 3 additional years, I co-captained a team with Libby Znaimer for The Weekend To End Women’s Cancers. Our supporters helped raise some $140,000 for cancer research. In 2015, my team raised $5000 in the Bladder Cancer Awareness Walk. In 2016, our total was $6500. In 2017, our total was $8000. Last year, with your help, we raised $9500! Please help me make it happen by making a tax deductible donation!
I would also like to extend a big thank you to my supportive company, ZoomerMedia Ltd, for sponsoring my team for the annual Bladder Cancer Awareness Walk at Sunnybrook Park on Sunday September 22nd!
Thank you for making a donation! Big or small, it is greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Jane
