The world’s oldest marathoner has crossed the finish line in Toronto.

101 year old Fauja Singh, who makes his home in London, England, completed the 5 k run today in the Toronto Waterfront Marathon.  Last year he ran the full marathon at the age of 100.

Singh, who attributes his success to ginger curry, cups of tea and “being happy”, has long been acclaimed as the “Turbaned Tornado” the title of his biography published 2 years ago, which he unfortunately has not been able to read because he’s illiterate.

In 2004 his running prowess saw him replace England soccer star David Beckham, and champion boxer Muhammad Ali as poster boy for Adidas’s “Impossible is nothing” advertising campaign.

About 25 thousand runners competed in today’s Toronto Waterfront Marathon.
