China has been asked to help the U.S. with its response to North Korea over the hacking attack on Sony Pictures Entertainment.

The U.S. and China have shared information about the unprecedented cyber attack, and because China has influence with North Korea, it’s been asked to help.

The U.S. says North Korea is to blame for the attack that exposed sensitive Sony documents and emails, and threatened violence if the Sony movie “The Interview” played in theatres as scheduled beginning Christmas Day.  The comedy deals with an assassination attempt on North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

While China has some influence with North Korea, it too has been accused of cyber attacks against western countires and corporations.
