PLASTIC MICROFIBRES SHOWING UP IN GREAT LAKES

There`s new concern about North America`s largest bodies of water.

Tiny bits of plastic are showing up in debris in the Great Lakes.

They`re from synthetic fibres in such things as garments, cleaning cloths and other consumer products.

 And they`re getting into gastrointestinal tracts of fish, as well as birds that dine on fish,

These very fine microfibres are made from petroleum-based products such as nylon and polyester.
