Do you remember that hitchiking child-sized robot created by researchers from Ryerson and McMaster universities that stood at the side of the road and was given rides by motorists?

Unfortunately hitchBOT has been vandalized and damaged beyond repair while hitchhiking through Philadelphia.

The high-tech tourist was picked up by motorists across Canada and in Europe, and had its batteries charged by thoughful fellow travellers.

But he managed only two weeks on the road after lleaving the Boston area, before being destoyed Saturday in the City of Brotherly Love.

His creators say the purpose of the experiment was to see how humans would interact with the little guy.
