60S FOLKSINGER GLENN YARBROUGH DEAD

Glenn Yarbrough, one of the original members of the folk-singing trio “The Limelighters” has died. He was 86.

Yarbrough died Thursday at his daughter Holly’s Nashville home surrounded by family and friends.

“The Limelighters” were a contemporary folk group founded in 1959 and were comprised of Glenn Yarbrough, Alex Hassilev and Lou Gottlieb.

They were extremely successful during the folk music revival of the 1960s, with high record sales figures, along with numerous television appearances and live concert performances.

Yarbrough left “The Limelighters” in 1963 and continued with a successful solo career.

His most successful recording was “Baby The Rain Must Fall” in 1965.
