Ontario Liberals have done an about face on fundraising. They now say they want to ban all MPP’s from fundraising events. This comes after enduring months of criticism over the cash-for-access fundraisers and after a committee has spent all summer working on election finance reforms legislation. The opposition parties say it’s a bombshell that makes a mockery of the non-partisan process. The two Progressive Conservative members of the committee, including Steve Clark, walked out of the meeting called the the matter a “sham.” The government introduced the legislation amid allegations they were selling access to cabinet ministers at high-priced dinners athough they denied it influenced government decisions.
