It’s not a list you want to be on, let alone ranked number one. But Toronto is the number one city in Canada for having the largest bed bug infestation.
The problem is so bad in this city, that Scarborough also made the list at number nine. The list was provided by pest control provider Orkin Canada and released at the peak of summer travel. Toronto public health manager Tracy Leach told the Toronto Sun that the bed bug infestation hasn’t gotten worse than when it exploded in North America 10 years ago. She added that nobody is immune to the bugs which can invade any neighbourhood or community, stressing that bed bugs are not a reflection of sanitary conditions. TTC spokesman Brad Ross says that transit vehicles aren’t a great environment for bed bugs where they can’t survive for long on their own. Two other Ontario cities made top ten..including Ottawa, and Sudbury.
Here’s the top 10: Toronto, Winnipeg, Vancouver, Ottawa, St. John’s ,Edmonton, Halifax, Sudbury, Scarborough, Calgary
