Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stressed the importance of the North American Free Trade Agreement last night in California, saying that NAFTA needs to be modernized, not abandoned.

Trudeau told a mainly business crowd at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, that throwing out the three-country trade agreement would upend lives.

He said NAFTA isn’t like a hockey game where there’s a winner and a loser. He says each country is a winner, and that NAFTA is vital to the economic interests of both Canada and the United States.

Trudeau wraps up his four-day trip to the U-S today in Los Angeles.
