A South Korean joyride has landed a Canadian Olympian in hot water.
Ski cross racer Dave Duncan from London, Ontario was arrested, along with his wife and one of his coaches after police say they stole a Hummer SUV while drunk and then drove it to the athletes’ village at the Pyeongchang Olympics.
The 35 year-old Duncan, his wife Maja and Canadian technical coach William Raine were detained by police and then released. Raine is the son of Canadian skiing legend Nancy Greene.
Duncan has issued an apology for what he calls “bahaviour that demonstrated poor judgement.”
His wife and Raine have also apologized for their involvement.
In South Korea, a drunk driving conviction can result in a three-year prison sentence, or a fine that’s the equivalent to over 11-thousand dollars Canadian.
