More than 100 residents living in a downtown Toronto seniors’ home are being forced to find someplace else to live.
The Davenhill Senior Living Home is located at 877 Yonge Street in Toronto’s Rosedale neighbourhood. The building was sold back in May.
Earlier this week, residents were told that the facility would be shutting down by year’s end.
This has left 150 residents, many of whom have mobility issues, scrambling to figure out where they will live.
A Davenhill spokesperson tells The Globe and Mail that the facility regrets the challenges the impending move will place on residents, but says they made the choice to close down on their own terms rather than wait for an event outside of their control.
Residents, however, say their options for finding facilities nearby and even in the entire city of Toronto are extremely scarce.
