No more excuses says Premier Doug Ford, who’s demanding 13,000 COVID-19 tests daily across the province starting Thursday. His call comes as numbers from the Ministry of Health show there were just over 2,500 new test results Tuesday, far short of targets promised by the government. Ford who says his “patience has run thin” wants to see every long-term care resident, every front-line health-care worker and every first responder tested. Ontario reported 550 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, the biggest single-day increase so far, though figures also showed a return to an increasing testing backlog. The Premier also announced enhanced safety measures for non-essential work places, and put out the call to retired inspectors to help. And the province is ramping up construction of critical healthcare projects like hospitals and temporary healthcare structures by extending working hours.
