Premier Doug Ford says the loss of 400,00 jobs in Ontario in March due to COVID-19 is a “punch in the gut.” While admitting the province is still in the thick of it, Ford is looking ahead to economic recovery after the health crisis with the creation of the Ontario Jobs Recovery Committee to help drive job growth when the public health crisis ends.
“This committee will chart a path for Ontario’s economic recovery, so when we beat COVID-19, our province can come back stronger than ever before,” says Ford. Finance Minister Rod Phillips will chair the special cabinet committee. The Premier says he still does not believe in a basic income.
