The NDP wants the head of the province’s vaccine rollout to investigate queue-jumping after owners of long-term care home in Vaughan have allowed some COVID vaccine doses to go to non-frontline staff and relatives of board members.

The diversion from protocol was flagged by a nurse, who says she was ordered to administer the shots last month.

The chair of Villa Leonardo Gambin’s board of directors says all steps were taken to ensure staff members and residents were offered and encouraged to take the vaccine, before deciding to provide it to others.

”One more reason why we can’t really have a lot of confidence in the way they’ve rolled out this even when they’ve had the vaccine,” comments

The Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority’s reportedly investigating following a complaint of COVID vaccine queue-jumping at home in Brantford.

The NDP’s critic for long-term care, Sara Singh, is calling on retired General Rick Hillier to ensure there’s a complete, public investigation of who got the vaccine at these homes and if this has gone on in others.
