After the company CEO confirmed Pfizer will deliver on its promise to send 4-million by the end of March, Justin Trudeau says 10.8-million shots are to arrive between April and June.

That’s 2.8-million more for that period than the original government forecast.

In addition, the prime minister says fourth-quarter deliveries from Pfizer are also being moved up.

6.2-milion more doses than planned will be deployed between July and August.

The Trudeau government’s also agreed to buy 4-million more doses from Moderna, that will be arriving over the summer.

Based on the revised delivery schedule, up to 14.5-million Canadians could get both shots by Canada Day.

In total, Trudeau says 84-million doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be delivered by the end of September.  

The inoculation numbers could still rise though as Health Canada’s in the midst of reviewing other vaccine candidates, including those from AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson and Novavax.   

Meanwhile, Trudeau also announced the government’s investing $53-million on a strategy to monitor the more infectious variants.

Currently, there are more than 429 cases of the U-K variant and 28 of the South Africa variant reported across eight provinces.

There’s just one report of the Brazil variant.
