Toronto’s mayor is providing more information on how COVID-19 vaccines will be given during phase two of the roll out.
John Tory explained on Friday morning, that most people will receive a vaccine at either a doctor’s office or a pharmacy but the mayor also revealed the nine city-operated clinics are on schedule to be ready to open on or before April 1st.
“We want people to know that when the supply of vaccine comes, which is the responsibility of other governments, we will be there to have these clinics,” Mayor Tory told CP24, “There’s one at Scarborough Towne Centre, there’s one at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Toronto Congress Centre, The Hangar in Downsview and the Malvern Community Centre and the ones at Malvern, Toronto Congress Centre and Convention Centre are ready. People should just know they’re ready so when the supply comes and the time comes they’ll be notified, but those are ready and the other ones are all in progress.”
Here is the full list of the nine City-operated clinics:
1. Metro Toronto Convention Centre, 255 Front St. W.
2. Toronto Congress Centre, 650 Dixon Rd.
3. Malvern Community Recreation Centre, 30 Sewells Rd.
4. The Hangar, 75 Carl Hall Rd.
5. Scarborough Town Centre, 300 Borough Dr.
6. Cloverdale Mall, 250 The East Mall
7. Mitchell Field Community Centre, 89 Church Ave.

9. Carmine Stefano Community Centre, 3100 Weston Rd.
It’s estimated more than 120,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses will be administered each week through the network of city operated clinics.
We learned this past weekend that residents of Ontario, 80 and over, will be in the next group to be vaccinated, possibly as early as the first week of March.
Dr Dirk Huyer, the province’s lead on the pandemic outbreak, then told Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer, the vaccines will be delivered by each of the province’s public health units.
And Toronto fire chief Matthew Pegg, who’s in charge of the city’s response, told Fight Back that residents will be notified through a mass public service campaign when and how they can register for a vaccine appointment.
