An actress, who played opposite stars like Henry Fonda and Joan Crawford, in various films in the ’40s and ’50s, has died. As her daughter put it, the original “Martha Stewart” has left us for a new part in a movie with all her heavenly friends.
Among her more prominent roles was playing opposite Humphrey Bogart in the 1950 movie “In a Lonely Place.”
Stewart began her career singing on radio alongside Glenn Miller and Harry James. She made her Hollywood debut with a role in the 1945 film “Doll Face” singing a duet with Perry Como.
She also played Miss Adelaide in “Guys and Dolls” on Brodway in 1951.
Martha Ruth Stewart was 98.
