There is every indication Ontario’s premier will announce a new stay at home order, which will go into effect across the province first thing Thursday April 8th.

Doug Ford hinted at this Tuesday, after saying he was disappointed that so many people went out to Yorkdale over the Easter weekend, despite his own lockdown rules allowing for malls and non essential retail to stay open with 25 percent capacity.

Ontario Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Williams admitted on Tuesday, there is a sense of urgency to do more to keep people at home.

“What more must we do to try and bring this surge, as our ICU numbers climb over 500, which is worrisome enough, especially if we can’t curtail to bring that down to under 600 or even further, we’re going to have to take more strident measures,” Dr. Williams explained.

The medical officers of health for Toronto, Peel and Ottawa sent a letter earlier this week urging the Ford PCs to issue a stay at home order, arguing the lockdown down isn’t enough to curb the spread of the virus.

Mayor John Tory is also advocating for a stay at home order, which he hopes would include restrictions on some of the big employers, where we’re seeing spread of the COVID variants.
