By normal standards it was was a small gathering in a cavernous indoor space, but it was still progress as the arts slowly return to New York City.
The comeback occurred when about two dozen New York Philharmonic string players performed in the company’s cavernous McCourt space.
The audience consisted of 150 patrons; all of them socially distanced, masked and either vaccinated or having tested COVID negative.
The gap between this week’s performance before a live audience and and the last was nearly 13 months.
