The city of Toronto will begin posting the names of businesses forced to close due to COVID outbreaks.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Eileen de Villa says some are receiving written notices Monday and will be forced to take action immediately.
“There will be eight partial closures in cases where the findings indicate the entire operation does not need to shut down and there will be four full closures,” said Dr. de Villa.
Business closures will be posted Monday evening on the city’s website and updated each Thursday.
Meantime, Toronto is in a “vaccine valley” this week according to Mayor John Tory who says despite a current vaccine shortage, the strategy to send as much supply to the virus hotspots is working.
“Our public health officials are adamant that these mobile and pop up hotspot clinics, despite the long lines, are the best way to get thousands of people vaccinated quickly right where they live.”
Toronto Police say its COVID enforcement teams laid over 160 charges on the weekend, including eight criminal charges. And Officers attended 210 gatherings in response to calls from the public.
