The number of planes landing carrying travelers with COVID-19 was cut by over half in the two weeks since Ottawa prohibited incoming flights from India and Pakistan.
The government announced April 22 that direct flights from the two countries would be banned for 30-days after high numbers of passengers were testing positive upon arrival.
The final flights from India landed at Pearson International the following day.
Between April 10-23, a total of 135 international flights arrived with at least one person who had COVID.
36 of those were direct flights from India, 2 were from Pakistan.
Between April 24-May 7, the total number fell to 56 flights, including a dozen from the U.S. and 8 from Europe.
The ban on direct flights from India and Pakistan also includes connecting flights through airports in Europe and the U.S.
