In the wake of the discovery of the unmarked graves of 215 children at a former residential school in B.C., Canada’s Indigenous Services Minister Marc Miller is among those calling for an apology for the role the Catholic Church played in the country’s residential school system.

”I think it is shameful that they haven’t done it, that it hasn’t been done to date,” says Miller.

”Certainly my Catholic friends believe it should be done.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Veldon Coburn, professor of Aboriginal studies at the University of Ottawa told Zoomer Radio’s ”Fight Back” with Libby Znaimer, he’s not one moved by gestures of that sort, but he knows that for some survivors, they just want to hear sorry from ”the person at the top.”  

The government-sponsored, church-run institutions operated in Canada for over 120-years.
