NEW YORK'S "CRANE LADY" DIES AT 85

She survived being crushed in the collapse of a construction crane in Manhattan in 1985, trapped for six hours in a rescue operation captured live on television.

At the time, Brigitte Gerney was a 49-year old mother of two, who became known as the “Crane Lady.”

Her legs were crushed in the crane collapse.  She underwent 13 operations and miraculously walked again.

Brigitte Gerney has died of heart failure and complications of Alzheimer’s dementia.

She was 85.
