There are still 159 missing following Thursday’s partial collapse of a beachside condo complex in the Miami-area town of Surfside.
Three bodies were pulled from the rubble of the Champlain Towers South overnight, bringing the death toll to four.
Officials fear the number could rise dramatically.
Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava says rescuers are still hopeful of finding survivors in the rubble.
They’re using dogs and microphones as they sift through the rubble.
The Champlain, which was built in 1981, had been in the process of undergoing a recertification process, having hired an engineer.
Owners of units have filed a multi-million dollar class-action suit, alleging the condo association failed to ”secure and safeguard the lives and property.”
The lawsuit quotes public statements made by Ken Direktor, who represents the condo association, saying that ”repair needs had been identified” in the structure before the collapse.
