New York’s Attorney General has announced that Governor Andrew Cuomo sexually harassed nearly a dozen women in and out of state government.
The nearly five-month investigation, conducted by two lawyers, involved interviews with 179 people, including accusers, current and former administration employees and the governor.
”These interviews and pieces of evidence revealed a deeply disturbing yet clear picture:  Gov. Cuomo sexually harassed current and former state employees,” said Attorney General Letitia James.
The investigation found Cuomo’s administration was a ”hostile work environment” and was ”rife with fear and intimidation.”
James says ”the report speaks for itself” and what happens next will be the result of decisions made by the governor and state assembly.
The attorney general’s report’s expected to play a key role in an ongoing inquiry in the state assembly into whether there are grounds for Cuomo to be impeached.
The 63-year-old governor disputed the findings in a pre-taped statement on his website.
”I want you to know directly from me that I never touched anyone inappropriately or made inappropriate sexual advances,” Cuomo said.
He added ”the facts are much different than what has been portrayed,” appearing to reject calls to resign.
New York’s gubernatorial race takes place in November 2022.
