Things will look almost normal when Ontario students return to the classroom in September.
Under the province’s just-released plan, students will return to in-person learning, five days a week unless they opt for remote learning.
Students from grade one through twelve must wear non-surgical masks indoors but not outside and teachers must wear surgical masks.
Vaccines are not mandatory for staff or students.
And schools will rely on families to screen for COVID-19 at home, but may have to do on-site screening when transmission might be higher like after holidays.
Sports, clubs, assemblies and extracurricular activities will resume.
Education Minister Stephen Lecce is set to announce on Wednesday $25M more in ventilation funding.
But the plan doesn’t answer key questions like are there different rules for vaccinated students and teachers and what’s the threshold to close schools based on infection rates.
