The Trudeau government says it’s planning to create a proof-of-vaccination document by early fall so fully immunized Canadians can start travelling internationally again.
Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino says Ottawa and the provinces are working on the credentials, which would include the type of vaccines received, dates and location/s.
Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc says government expects the documentation would be digital but would also be available for those without access to a device.
The development comes as some provinces talk about introducing domestic proof-of-vaccination.
Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott rejects the idea despite growing calls from business and health leaders.
She says there are mixed views on the subject, that a certificate could be vulnerable to fraud.

Elliott adds besides the second dose receipt is ”sufficient proof” of one’s vaccination status.
