It appears Ontario’s premier has relented on his stance against making COVID-19 vaccines mandatory for hospital and long term care workers.
A Toronto Star report reveals that the chief medical officer of health will announce on Tuesday a plan to not only make vaccination against the virus mandatory for these healthcare workers, but also to keep current pandemic restrictions in place indefinitely.
The report also says while Doug Ford had reservations about the vaccine mandate due to concerns about civil liberties and privacy, Doctor Kieran Moore convinced him it was the right way to go.
To that end, Moore is expected use his authority to issue a “vaccine mandate directive” for doctors, nurses, and “anyone patient-facing” working in hospitals, long-term-care homes, and in home-care.
Those with a medical exemption will not be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
