The famed Arc de Triomphe in Paris is going to be wrapped in shimmering fabric.
It’s part of a posthumous installation to honour the artist Christo, who died last year.
The wrapping has already begun and fans of Christo’s work can watch the process that is being livestreamed online.
The work is being done three eight-hour shifts around the clock.
To help finance the project, Sotheby’s will host an exhibition, called “The Final Christo,” that features 25 paper works spanning maps, architectural plans, photographs, and engineering drawings that recount the artwork’s history from concept to creation.
Samples of the fabric being used to wrap the monument will also be for sale.
Works will range in price from $150,000 to $2.5 million, with proceeds benefiting the project — estimated to cost $16.5 million and the Christo and Jeanne-Claude Foundation.
