American evacuation flights from Afghanistan have resumed with new urgency, a day after two suicide bombings targeted the thousands of desperate people fleeing the Taliban takeover and killed more than 100.

As the call to prayer echoed through Kabul on Friday, the anxious crowd outside the Kabul airport was as large as ever. Dozens of Taliban members patrolled one area about 500 meters from the airport to prevent anyone from venturing beyond.

There is word from the Canadian Forces that all Canadian military personnel who stayed behind to help with the American withdrawal from Afghanistan are safe after two devastating suicide bombings Thursday at the Kabul airport.

The coordinated attacks by ISIS terrorists happened just hours after the final Canadian evacuation mission left the airport.

13 U.S. soldiers and at least 95 Afghans were killed, with gunmen opening fire on the crowd after the twin blasts.

Former British Royal Marine Pen Farthing was close to the attacks, and describes the scene as “all hell breaking loose.”

“The Taliban were firing into the air,” Farthing explains, “One let off a full magazine from an AK-47 right next to the window of our bus where we had women and children. And as we’re trying to then flee from the airport, there was tear gas. It was just the most horrific thing.”

U.S. President Joe Biden is promising retaliation at the time and place of America’s choosing.

Meantime, the Trudeau Liberals are being criticized by both the NDP and Conservative leaders on the election trail, after the Canadian Forces ended their rescue mission in Afghanistan prior to the U.S. pullout deadline of August 31st.

But the Prime Minister says Canada’s efforts of getting some 3700 Canadian nationals and Afghan refugees onto evacuation flights in recent weeks was an impressive efforts.

“Our Canadian forces, our diplomats, our consular agents, to get as many people out as we could,” Trudeau explained, “And compared with many of our allies we’ve done extremely well, we’ve done extremely well. Seventeen flights since the beginning of August.”
