After recently stepping down as Alex Trebek’s replacement as host, Mike Richards has been fired as executive producer of the TV quiz show ”Jeopardy!” as well as ”Wheel of Fortune.”
This comes a little over a week after he was forced to step down as ”Jeopardy!” host over past comments that had surfaced.
Richards was named permanent host August 11.
Rotating guest hosts are expected to sit in again as the search resumes for Trebek’s replacement.
Sony, which produces both shows, announced it had hoped that when Richards stepped down it would have ”minimized the disruption and internal difficulties we have all experienced these last few weeks,” explained senior executive Suzanne Prete.
”That clearly has not happened.”
The Sudbury-born Trebek had hosted ”Jeopardy!” for 37 years from its revival in 1984 until his death in 2020 from pancreatic cancer.
