He’s been happily writing children’s stories for more than 40-years.

Now, one of Canada’s most beloved story tellers, Robert Munsch, has admitted he is suffering from dementia and it’s impacting just about every aspect of his life.

He says he can’t drive, or ride a bike, or write, which is whittling away who he thought he was.

The 76 year old American-born Guelph-resident has sold more than 80 million books in North America over the past 4 decades.

His stories have been translated into 20 languages and his publisher says he received about 10,000 fan letters a year.

He says the diagnosis came as a “relief,” since he could sense that something was wrong but adds, strangely, the stories are still all there and he expects they’ll be the last to go.
