If you plan a drive to take in the fall colours this Thanksgiving weekend, follow the rules of the road.

Police across Ontario are conducting Operation Impact, a national public awareness campaign aimed at making Canada’s roads the safest in the world.

Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says the latest OPP data on road deaths due to poor driving leaves room for improvement.

“51 people died because of speeding or aggressive driving, 35 people died because of inattention, 34 died due to lack of seat belt use and 23 people died because of drugs or alcohol,” tweeted Sgt. Schmidt. “We have already investigated over 40,000 crashed across the province.”

Friday thru Thanksgiving Monday, police across the country will be checking for poor driving behaviour.
