We’re learning the Biden Administration is planning to lift restrictions at the American border with Canada and Mexico for individuals fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in early November.

This move will end an historic ban on non essential travel which has been in place since March of 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was New York Congressman Brian Higgins who leaked the news early, later confirmed in a Tuesday conference call with members of Biden’s staff and reporters.

There is no specific date for reopening, but details will be announced by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in co-ordination with the government’s health agencies.

The reopening of the U.S. land borders as that country moves to require all international visitors to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

A negative COVID-19 test is required before boarding a flight to enter the U.S.

No testing will be required to enter the U.S. by land or sea, provided travellers meet the COVID-19 vaccination requirement, The Associated Press reported.

Canada has allowed fully vaccinated Americans to enter Canada by land for non essential travel since August, provided they also show proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test.
