There is every indication the Ford Progressive Conservatives at Queen’s Park will soon announce that Ontario will be exiting Step 3 of the “Roadmap to Reopen” which includes ending capacity limits in all locations where proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required.

Sports stadiums, cinemas and theatres have just recently been allowed to have full capacity, but not restaurants, bars and gyms.

Restaurant owners have become increasingly vocal, including on Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer, after they were excluded from increased capacity limits.

Mayor John Tory has been hinting this will soon change.

“I know the province is working on it, I’ve spoken to the premier about it. They’re aware of the issue and challenge faced by the restaurant industry and they’re working on it,” Mayor Tory said on Wednesday evening.

In addition, Toronto Medical Officer of Health Dr. Eileen de Villa says there are active discussions taking place at the provincial level about a further possible easing of restrictions and that health experts will be closely watching the outcome of gatherings from over the Thanksgiving weekend.

At the same time, the scientific director of Ontario’s COVID-19 Science Advisory Table is urging caution and thinks we should wait two to three weeks before allowing full capacity in restaurants.

Doctor Peter Juni, a regular guest on Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back, says being in a packed sports stadium wearing a mask is much safer than sitting in a restaurant unmasked.

“If I can choose between sitting 20,000 people into a sports arena or 20,000 people into 200 intimate restaurants, I would choose the sports arena. Why? Because the ventilation is much better. This disease had airborne transmission through aerosols and small droplets,” Juni explained.
