Ontario’s top health experts are urging doctors to resume in-person appointments rather than continue with virtual ones.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kieran Moore, Assistant Deputy Minister OHIP, Pharmaceuticals and Devices Division Ministry of Health Patrick Dicerni, and Registrar and CEO College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario Dr. Nancy Whitmore have written a letter to Ontario doctors dated October 13, 2021.
In the letter, they say they are increasingly hearing about physicians not providing face to face care.
They say there are limits to what can be done virtually and the standard of care is difficult to meet in an online environment.
They urge doctors to resume in-person care for conditions and services where physical assessments are needed to make appropriate diagnosis and treatments.
It was last week the same guidance was given by the Ontario Medical Association and Hospital for Sick Children.
