Nearly a year later, but, the Ford government is finally following through on a promise to protect the right to wear poppies in the workplace during Remembrance Week.

The government’s introduced legislation that, if passed, would allow employees to pin a poppy on their uniforms.

”Our government is grateful to those in uniform, past and present, who have selflessly dedicated themselves to serving our country and protecting our values,” said Citizenship Minister Pam Gill in a statement.

”They deserve our unwavering respect, support and gratitude.  We show that by wearing poppies, helping to ensure our children and grandchildren never forget the sacrifices they have made for us.”

This comes about after Whole Foods Market last November initially prohibited staff from wearing them.

After a backlash, the America based grocery chain reversed course but the Ford Conservatives still vowed to enshrine workers’ protections in law.
