Premier Doug Ford says his government will meet its promise to cut gas prices before next year’s March budget.
“We’re going to commit to making sure that we cut 5.7 cents off before the next budget and we’re the only government that’s going to be reducing gasoline by .10 cents a litre and my call for the federal government is match the .10 cents.”
The Premier says if the government matches the province’s pledge, he’ll cut the tax even further.
Ford promised in 2018 to lower gas prices by .10 cents per litre, including the fuel tax cut and eliminating the cap-and-trade system, a move that was meant to lower prices by 4.3 cents.
His government ended cap and trade which triggered the federal carbon tax which eliminated those savings.
