Police in Paraguay are working on a murder case they say may be connected to stolen Stradivarius violins.
Three German citizens have been arrested near the Paraguayan capital of Asuncion in connection with the deaths of an archaeologist and his teenage daughter.
Their home was ransacked during an attack and police think the killers were looking for authentication certificates which are necessary to sell the instruments. The archaeologist was known in Europe as an expert musical instrument restorer.
Antonio Stradivari died in 1773. He is considered to be the most distinguished craftsman of the violin.
Ten year’s ago one of his creations sold for a record $13 million.
