Given how ”fragile” our health system is now ”the only way that we know to get through COVID-19, this variant and any future variant, is through vaccination.”
That’s the feeling of Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos who believes mandatory vaccination could be coming.
”This is a conversation, which I believe provinces and territories, in support with the federal government, will want to have over the next weeks and months.”
While he adds there are no such discussions taking place now, Duclos believes, based on his ”personal understanding of what we see internationally and domestically and in my conversations [with] health ministers over the last few weeks,” the discussion will soon take place.
Alberta Premier Jason Kenney was quick to reject the idea, saying his province removed that power of mandatory vaccination last year and will not revisit it.
