She graced both stage and screen for decades as a Broadway star and soap opera actress.
Joan Copeland was the sister of playwright Arthur Miller and onetime sister-in-law of Hollywood star Marilyn Monroe.
Copeland made her Broadway debut in Sundown beach in 1948 and returned to the Great White Way dozen times in the decades that followed.
She also acted on daytime soaps and a number of TV series including Law & Order.
Her son confirms she died in her sleep in her New York apartment.
Joan Copeland was 99.
