"DIXIE CUP" SINGER DIES AT 76

She was the youngest member of the girl group that knocked the Beatles out of top spot on the singles charts with their debut song.

Rosa Lee Hawkins was a member of the Dixie Cups who scored a big hit in 1964 with “Chapel of Love.”

She’s died in Tampa Florida from post surgery complications.

“Chapel of Love” replaced the Beatles “Love Me Do” as the number one song on the Billboard charts in 1964 and was was later heard on the soundtrack of Stanley Kubric’s 1987 film “Full Metal Jacket.”

Rosa Lee Hawkins was 76.
