Animals rescue organizations across the country are thanking actress Betty White this morning.
Canadians donated thousands of dollars to animal-rescue organizations yesterday on what would have been Betty’s 100 birthday.
She died on December 31st and was known for her love of animals as much as she was for her TV roles.
In her honour, a social media movement called the “BettyWhiteChallenge” popped up and it worked.
In B.C. the SPCA recorded more than $64,000 dollars in donations and the Vancouver Humane Society received nearly 10 times what it raised on the same day last year.
Animal welfare operations from Prince Edward Island to Alberta also reported an increase in fund raising.
The Ontario SPCA received more than $50,000.
