Conservative Members of Parliament are planning to vote Wednesday in secret ballot on whether Erin O’Toole should stay on as their leader.

The event comes after about one-third of his caucus requested a leadership review.

Dr. Stephen Ellis, a Nova Scotia MP and O’Toole’s associate on COVID-19 policy, says he believes the leader has the votes he needs to survive.

“Some of the messaging that Mr. O’Toole’s put out, he’s made it very very clear that he’s ready for it,” explained Ellis.

Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back strategy panelists have weighed in on the leadership review.

“Obviously this is the kind of stuff that those in the party never want to see. It’s the proverbial dirty laundry being aired and I know all political parties have to go through this,” said Conservative strategist John Capobianco.

“If Erin O’Toole is able to stare down this vote and come out victorious on the other end, then I think that he will own the podium, and I think he needs to,” said Variety Village CEO Karen Stintz.

“There seems to be a lack of tolerance and there’s a faction in this party that seems to be a better fit with Maxime Bernier and the People’s Party,” said former Liberal Ontario Finance Minister Charles Sousa.

If O’Toole loses the vote, Conservative MPs would then choose who would replace him as interim leader.
