Syl Johnson, wrote one of the great blues tunes of all time.

Johnson was revered for writing his signature song “Different Strokes” in 1967. It went on to be an anthem for hip hop artists and blues musicians alike

There are few details about Johnson’s death except that it comes just days after the death of his brother Jimmy Johnson, who passed away last week at the age of 93.

Syl Johnson was 85.
