Inuk musician and activist Tanya Tagaq says it is time for people to wake up and understand they have a responsibility to push back against hatred of Canada’s Indigenous peoples.
The 46-year old throat singer from Nunavut has released a new album called “Tongues” and calls it a reminder that Canadians can no longer turn away from the atrocities inflicted on Indigenous children.
The Juno award winner co-wrote “Tongues” with New York beat poet Saul Williams. It was partly inspired by Tagaq’s 2018 book “Split Tooth” which is a collection of journal entries and poems.
