Emergency Preparedness Minister Blair says protesters are “essentially putting their foot on the on the throat of all Canadians.”
In the latest federal briefing on the illegal blockades in Ottawa and Windsor. Blair says the federal government is playing a supporting role and that all three levels of government are responsible.
“The responsibility for policing throughout the province of Ontario including the city of Ottawa is a provincial responsibility under the solicitor general but we all recognize that we have to work together on this,” said Blair.
Transport Minister Omar Alghabra calls what’s happening at the Ambassador Bridge “an illegal economic blockade against the people of Ontario and Canada” by cutting off the supply chain.
“I find it ironic that same people who were trying to sell Canadians fake stories about empty shelves are now the ones causing these shelves to go empty, this is an illegal economic blockade against the people of Ontario and Canada,” said Alghabra.
He says the Windsor blockade is forcing some factories to send workers home and interfering with Canadians’ ability to access essential goods.
